Backpacking and golfing in New Zealand

Canadian golfer, Rod Hughes is passionate about golfing in  New Zealand. His three-week holiday earlier this year was his second trip to this “Dream Destination.”

With a backpack slung over his shoulder and a choice selection of golf clubs in a new, lighter-weight bag, Rod pitched his gear aboard his favourite Magic Bus to tour both North and South Islands. Determined to golf as many courses as possible, the account of his trip is not only entertaining but often just plain hilarious.

Magic Bus tours are a kick for all ages

…And the price is right, says Canadian golfer, Rod Hughes.

With my “Birdies, Bogeys and Kiwis” book and the “New Zealand Golf Guide” in hand, Rod toured New Zealand on the Magic Bus with his 27 lb. bundle of golf clubs. He gives us the “skinny” on the fun of sightseeing with fellow backpackers on a budget.Rod lives near Ottawa, in Canada and has now visited New Zealand twice in the past two years. Here’s his experience as a senior, or as we now say in Canada – a Zoomer!

Laura Davies wins the New Zealand Women’s Open

Kevin Tutty of The Press reports the big news…

“The experience gleaned from 25 years as a professional carried Laura Davies to a two-shot win in the New Zealand Women’s Open at the Pegasus course yesterday.

“Davies, who has now had 73 wins as a professional on four continents, started the day a shot behind Australian Sarah Kemp.”

New Zealand Women’s Open participants headline the 2nd annual event

The second New Zealand Women’s Open tees off at the new Pegasus course north of Christchurch on Thursday,  February 25th boasting $415,000 prizemoney and a full co-sanction tournament with theAustralian LPG and the Ladies European Tour. Here’s the exciting roster:
